Fall TV started its premieres this week and there were a couple of new shows that caught my eye. I haven't watched a new sitcom since The Office started so it's interesting that I chose 2 new sitcoms to watch this year. Here's the rundown:
Up All Night was funny, but not as funny as I expected it to be. I'm not a mom yet, but I do think that they portrayed some important issues that come up in parenthood. I will most likely continue to watch it because I like the actors and it's something that I will be dealing with in about 5 months! I do think that this show will only get better as the season progresses.
I just watched New Girl on Hulu Plus this morning and loved it. Zooey Deschanel is a favorite actress of mine and her character is pretty funny. I especially loved the ending scene in the restaurant. You'll have to watch to find out what I'm talking about! I will definitely continue to watch and hopefully this show will not disappoint me!
There may be a few more new shows that I watch this year, but these were the 2 that I was looking forward to watching the most. Old shows that I am excited about are...Parenthood (watched the season premiere and I think it's going to be a very dramatic season!), The Office, and Criminal Minds.
What new shows are you going to be watching this fall? What old shows are you excited to see come back?

Recent movie views.
I've said before that I'm not really a movie watcher, but sometimes Jon and I will start a movie during dinner and I will actually end up watching the whole thing. Here are a few we watched this week.
Just Go With It
Cedar Rapids
This movie stars Ed Helms, John C. Reilly and Anne Heche. Sigourny Weaver also has a smaller role at the beginning of the movie. Basically, this guy (Ed Helms) goes to this insurance conference in Cedar Rapids and meets a group of people who teach him how to have a little fun. He's this super safe guy who has been pretty sheltered his whole life and he learns to stand up for himself along the way. It's funny too! I would recommend it if you are looking for a no-brainer comedy with a little drama mixed in.
Just Go With It
I loved this movie. As you can see, it stars Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. Adam's character is a plastic surgeon and Jennifer's character is his assistant. I think most people know the premise of this movie, but I'll elaborate a little. He picks up girls by wearing a fake wedding ring, until one girl comes along who is disgusted that he is married and doesn't want anything to do with him. He explains that he is getting divorced and drags Jennifer's character (and subsequently her kids) into by asking her to be his pretend almost ex-wife. It's a surprisingly really funny movie too. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic comedy that her husband will like too!
Tomcats
This movie came out in 2001 so it is older, but this is my first time seeing it. A group of guys makes a bet to be the last remaining bachelor. They all put money into a pot each year and the last guy standing wins the money. Jerry O'Connell's character runs into a bit of gambling trouble and needs money immediately, so he forms a plan to get his friend (the only other guy left standing) married quickly so he can win the money. I thought the premise of this money was a bit ridiculous at first, but the movie grew on me and I ended up liking it.

Movie updates.
I finally got around to watching some movies that have been on my "to watch" list.

Due Date |
This movie is basically a modern version of Planes, Trains and Automobiles but I still enjoyed it. I think Zach Galifianakis is hilarious and always laugh at his one liners. I really liked Robert Downey Jr.'s character in this movie as well since I've only seen him in Sherlock Holmes and Tropic Thunder. This is a fun movie and something I would recommend if you are looking for a no-brainer comedy.

Love and Other Drugs |
I am a huge Anne Hathaway fan and this movie did not disappoint. I could have done without seeing her naked body, but those things happen. I liked how their relationship evolved and the way they got real with talking about her disease. I liked that Jake's brother's character gave the movie some comic relief too. This movie didn't exactly get great reviews, but I still liked it. It also has a Regina Spektor song that I love as the credits roll.

Helloooo...new movie!
I just found out (via La Belle Vie) that a book that I've read before (Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin) has been made into a movie. I enjoyed the book, and I think I'm really going to like the movie. First of all, it has John Krasinski in it. You know...Jim from The Office? Love him. It also has one of my favorite actresses, Kate Hudson, in it. It comes out May 6. Here's the trailer:

Movies on my Radar
Jon and I don't go out to the movies all that often. For one, we hate paying full price to see one unless it's been highly anticipated (such as big blockbusters like Batman). And we are also more "watch movies at home" people so we can spend our money going out to other places! The last movie we saw in the theater was Inception...in July. So yeah, it's been awhile. These are some movies I would like to see soon though:
Black Swan

I've heard this movie is disturbing, but really good at the same time. As I've said before, I love dance so I would like to see how this movie portrays ballet. Plus, I think Natalie Portman is a great actress!

Since I've seen the trailer I have been intrigued by the concept of this movie. I also adore Anne Hathaway so it will be interesting to see her play a role that is different from those I have seen her play before.

Basically I want to see this movie because people keep telling me I should. I suppose I'll give it to peer pressure for this.
Have you seen any of the movies listed? What are your thoughts on them?

25 Days of Christmas - Day 1
You know how ABC Family always has their 25 days of Christmas specials throughout the month of December? Even though it's intended for younger audiences, I always get excited about the idea of celebrating Christmas a little every day. I have decided to do one thing each day this month up to Christmas that will make the holiday more special, fun, or just to make it feel more like Christmas. So today I am doing these things:

Number 38 & 52
I've had a stack of movies from my mom for probably over a year. I have not watched any of them and need to so that I can give them back to her...although I'm not sure she even realizes they are missing! Since Jon is working tonight and my vacation time is winding down, I decided to watch one of them. I chose No Reservations, which is perfect since I have really gotten into cooking lately and I'm also a fan of Aaron Eckhart. The reviews weren't that great for this movie, but I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others.
I also decided to do some strength training while I was watching the movie. I'm crazy, right? Anyways, I got in a half hour of strength training. I did 10 minutes each of arms, abs and legs. I know I'm probably going to feel it tomorrow though! It's been a long time since I've worked out because I've found it very difficult to keep up with it due to my schedule. I'm hoping that I can form somewhat of a routine before I begin student teaching at the end of the month.
Oh, and I should mention that I subscribed to cnn.com & msnbc.com on my Google Reader so I am getting my daily dose of news in!
